During my time as Centre Director at Bede’s Summer School, I vividly remember

Picture this: it's Saturday morning, and you're finally anticipating the prospect of a well-deserved weekend break.

Humour! I’d consider it a universal “law”; everybody laughs at some point; everybody has the need to violate the logical sequence of thinking and speaking, the politically correct attitude and the noble handling of expressing language.

“Um/Er/uh”, “Well”, “Actually”, “You see”, “I mean” and so many more are common filler words meaningless in theory but life saving to our psychology in communicative situations. And this is because they provide these seconds of hesitation that your mind is whirling to find what to say next.

The past month I’ve caught myself thinking about summer destinations, getaways, untroubled moments and a break in business activity. At the same I’ve realised that the mind and the body need to recuperate after a much challenging year with loads of adjustments and strenuous moments.

With so much going on around the world, it’s probably high time we juggled many issues troubling us. And what a better way to start with than sharing our ideas, concerns, conflicts and ideologies through words and verbal communication.
